Point Grey Road Shoreline Clean Up
Sunday before Rosh Hashana, September 17th, at 10 am.
Rabbi Schachar is participating in the Point Grey Road Shoreline Clean up. "I am considering this for myself to be in part a preparation for Rosh Hashana and tashlich (a tikun for the harm we have caused the waters), as well as part of the directive "to serve and protect" the garden. This date also happens to be when we (ashkenazim) start saying selichot (prayers of forgiveness)!"
The Rabbi has invited us all to join him! For more information and to register, see: www.vanaqua.org/cleanup

Thecology Café: October 2005 – May 2006
Adam va-Adamah Environmental Society/COEJL of BC
announces Thecology Café, a monthly discussion series on Judaism and contemporary
environmental issues. Each discussion will feature a short introduction to the topic by an expert in the field. With the guidance of the expert and a Rabbi, the participants will then engage in a lively exploration of the environmental topic from a Jewish perspective.
Steve Lipari, the Chair of Adam va-Adamah says, “Thecology Café is a
wonderful opportunity for the community to see how the Jewish tradition informs us about contemporary issues of the environment. Adam va-Adamah holds many programs with local
synagogues and schools, so the Theocology Café discussion series is a great chance to offer our educational programming to the wider community.”
The dates, topics, and presenters for each discussion will be as follows:
